Time Clocks and Pre-trip and Post-Trip Process Update 1-18-2018

Effective January 18, 2018, we have begun using a new tool in our Employee Portal for Wash Crew time tracking. This tool allows the wash crew to clock in and out for their shifts and communicate needed items to the proper manager for product replenishment and order placement. This new process sends daily reports for review and order processing. This will expedite orders of needed items such as Water, Cleaning Supplies, Pot-Shots and other necessary items to keep our equipment in top-notch shape.
The Wash Crew team members will need to Clock in at the beginning of the shift, clock out for lunch, clock back in after lunch and then finally clock out at the end of the shift. A permanently mounted Tablet device will be mounted in the shop area for the purpose of clocking in and out. All time is tracked with a time stamp, failure to clock in at the beginning of shift will need to be remedied by the employee. Failure to clock in and out properly will necessitate the Wash Crew Manager going over the errors and manually correcting those with the employee.
If you are a devoted Wash Crew Team member or you occasionally choose to work on the Wash Crew, please make sure you are correctly clocking in and out. Your time stamp and stated times in and out will need to be within ten minutes of one another to avoid problems. At the end of the shift, Wash Crew team members should include any comments or items needed. These end of shift items will be transmitted to the proper manager for review and action items similar to the Pre-Trip and Post-Trip action items to the Shop and Safety department.
This tool is combined with the Pre-Trip and Post-Trip tool that we implemented recently to replace the paper Pre-Trip and Post-Trip process. As most drivers already know, it is a requirement of Northwest Navigator to perform these Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections for all equipment ALONG WITH the federally required DVIR process. Now that we are receiving daily reports, we have noticed that Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections are not being performed by all drivers. The Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections are a requirement. Failure to perform these essential steps will cause needed repair items to be missed, and may ultimately cost drivers their gratuities for less than premium customer service.
Please make sure that you are performing your required Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections with the online tool. It is a requirement that all drivers complete a Pre-trip and Post-Trip inspection in addition to the DVIR at the begin of shift and at end of the shift. If you need help finding this easy tool, you can click this link: https://www.nwnavigatorsafety.com/vehicle-condition-form/. You may simply save this link to your home screen on your smartphone or you may use a company provided tablet for this process. Failure to do so at NWN is a violation of DOT requirements. Please help us remain in compliance with the law and complete this necessary step in your daily routine.
