California Toll Instructions
Hello one and all, Nortwest Navigator has received several California Toll Violation notices lately. When driving across Toll roads and bridges in California, you may see a “BUS ONLY” lane. This lane is devoted to busses that are equipped with TRANSPONDERS for California. No Northwest Navigator busses are equipped with transponders.
When driving on these toll roads, you will need to use the commercial vehicle lanes and pay the toll required at the time of toll entry/crossing. These tolls are built into each charter, and are required to be paid by the customer. You should let your customer/group leader know when you will be crossing a toll area so that they may have the appropriate payment method easily available for payment.
The toll fees are typically below twenty dollars when paid correctly. The fees escalate with a fine and can reach as high as fifty dollars with penalty. Taking a few moments to use the correct lane and have your customer/group leader prepared will help greatly. Please remember this simple instruction when you see a toll sign, and remember that BUS ONLY lanes are intended for equipment with TRANSPONDERS only.
Thanks much, drive safely!
